Here are some General simple tips to remember if you’re planning or reviewing for the NCLEX-RN exam.

    -     Remember your Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Nursing Process, ABC and safety

    -          Always remember to Patient first before Equipment. Check first your patient before anything else. Example: if the ventilator alarms what would you do? Of course, go and check the patient then if the patient is stable then check the ventilator

    -          Don’t use the real world….do everything ideally or by the book… If the question is asking you about personnel. Remember you have all the Staff available, time and the equipment. Example: you have patient who cannot speak in English and he has a friend who can speak English. What would you do? Go and call a translator from the hospital. Maybe you’re going to think hospitals don’t have a translator but I’m telling you look at your choices form your exam you’ll see translator there. And you cannot discuss or use the patient’s friend as your translator because we are following the patients’ confidentiality and you’re not sure if he wants his friend to know his case.

    -          Reword the question in your own words if you’re having a hard time understanding them.

    -          If two options are similar eliminate them

    -          When it comes to positioning. Remember your Anatomy and try to think are you promoting or preventing something.

    -          In delegation: LPN can give PO, SQ, and IM except IV. Only nurses can give drugs via IV route. Don’t delegate Assessment, Teaching and Evaluations…

I hope this simple General Tips will help you…I’ll post more soon. Thanks
