Before I’m having a hard time to study endocrine system, but I’ve come to a technique that will forever remain in my mind when it comes to endocrine system. I’m going to give you some BUT EFFECTIVE TIPS to remember if you’re student or reviewing for a certain examination…

Addison’s disease Vs Cushing’s disease: when you say Addison’s disease just remember ADDISON’S with D means DOWNEverything is DOWN EXCEPT FOR POTASSIUM (hyperkalemia) while in Cushing’s disease remember CUSHING’S with U means UPEverything is UP EXCEPT FOR POTASSIUM (hypokalemia)…

Hypothyroidism Vs Hyperthyroidism: HYPOTHYROIDISM means SLOW and HYPOTHYROIDISM has COLD INTOLERANCE while HYPERTHYROIDISM means ACTIVE OR HYPER and HYPERTHYROIDISM has HEAT INTOLERANCE.

These are the two common topics that are frequently asked in examination even in Local board or in NCLEX. They will going to ask you about its signs and symptoms and using these tips for sure you’ll be able to answer it.

Let’s have example: what diet do you have to give in patient with Addison’s disease? Ok! If you don’t studied the diet for this disease definitely you’re going to guess the answer… but if you remember the concept… you know that Addison’s—everything is down except potassium…it means YOU’RE NOT GOING TO PICK AN ANSWER THAT IS HIGH IN POTASSIUM…RIGHT?

Example: hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism? What disease has the weight gain?…do you know the answer? In many books they don’t put weight gain in particular disease… so you know that in hyperthyroidism, patient is hyper active so the tendency is he will have weight loss. Right? While in hypothyroidism patient is slow and has easy fatigability so he will gain his weight…See how simple tip will help you answer a question.

Last Example: hypertension? Where can you see this? In hyperthyroidism? That’s right because the cardiac output is high and also the heart rate that could lead to hypertension.

I hope these simple tips will help you. I’m still going to post some soon.

      Hi,
I’ve been doing a lot of research online lately regarding traffic and Search Engine Optimization since I just started an internet health guide with a couple of friends of mine.
The content of your WordPress blog is awesome and I’d really like to exchange links with your website. Have a look at our website if you want, we put a lot of work and effort into it and are dedicated to improving it constantly.
The information offered on your site would be of great value to our fitness guide visitors, and I believe, your visitors would find great value in our site. Because our two websites are complementary rather than competitive, I see synergy here as an opportunity for our mutual benefit.
We receive a lot of hits already (contact me for visitor stats) and I think both our websites can benefit from one another. Anyway, just thought I’d share this with you – keep up the good work buddy and contact me if interested!
